Abstract
Geriatricians in Leicester piloted a perioperative medicine for older people undergoing surgery (POPS) service for patients with a lower limb vascular pathology and Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) score of 5 or more. We aimed to improve CFS accuracy assigned by the vascular team through a structured teaching programme and use of a mobile application. Frailty scoring improved after each intervention, facilitating accurate identification of patients for referral to geriatricians. Education within host surgical teams is therefore crucial to POPS service development.
