Abstract
Anterior and posterior surgeries are well-established options for degenerative cervical myelopathy, and their effectiveness has been demonstrated. However, both surgeries have specific complications, and physicians need to be familiar with the risk factors for poor outcome before surgery in order to treat patients safely. This narrative review presents the risks and complications of anterior and posterior interventions for degenerative cervical myelopathy, focusing on possible peri- and postoperative complications, and discusses the prevention and management of these complications.
