Abstract
The diversity and depth of clinical research in the field of infectious diseases in 2025 were impressive. Multiple new antibiotics were approved, innovative uses of technology to improve patient care were tested, and novel approaches were trialed to address longstanding problems in infectious diseases. Despite this progress, the resurgence of measles in 2025 offers a stark reminder that any progress against infectious diseases can quickly be lost if the principles of infectious diseases and public health are abandoned. Some of the most important clinical trials and trends in infectious diseases over the past year are highlighted in this review.
