Abstract
A 60-year-old woman underwent evaluation for a 6-year history of Parkinsonism. One year earlier, she had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the left palpebral conjunctiva, which recurred despite treatment. For the assessment of Parkinson disease, 123I FP-CIT and Tc-99m ECD SPECT were performed. Unexpectedly, intense 123I FP-CIT uptake was observed in the left eyelid lesion, whereas 99mTc-ECD showed no uptake. CT and MRI demonstrated a corresponding mass consistent with recurrent malignant melanoma. This first report underscores the need to recognize extrastriatal tracer uptake.
