Abstract

This study aims to assess how well Multiphase Flowmeters (MPFMs) can improve the efficiency of offshore wet gas fields, especially when the GVF is high. Extensive testing revealed that MPFMs outperformed conventional wet gas meters in terms of measurement accuracy and dependability, particularly in typically unmanned facilities (NUFs); for instance, MPFMs achieved 100% accuracy in gas volumetric flowrate measurements across 13 blind test points compared to the reference standards, while traditional meters often fall short under high GVF conditions. The findings demonstrate that MPFMs' compatibility with lightweight constructions and capacity to manage high GVF scenarios significantly reduce operating costs and infrastructure needs. This research has proven the technological developments in MPFM design, such as improvements in sensor technology, data processing algorithms, and materials engineering. These developments maximize operational effectiveness and resource management by ensuring accurate flow measurements. The study emphasizes how MPFMs are better for the environment since they reduce the need for extensive separation facilities, which results in smaller and more affordable offshore platforms. The results highlight the importance of innovating and using MPFMs in the real world to support effective and sustainable oil and gas extraction procedures.
