Abstract
We read with great interest the case report and literature review by Guru et al., titled "Mycobacterium shimoidei cavitary pneumonia: A rare case report, literature review" (1). The authors are to be commended for highlighting this underrecognized non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) as a causative pathogen in cavitary pulmonary disease. However, we find that several critical aspects warrant further elaboration and caution.
