Abstract
This study investigates the application value of anticipatory nursing in pediatric fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and to evaluate its effects on children's anxiety levels, compliance with the examination, success rate of the examination, incidence of complications, and parental satisfaction. A total of 140 children who underwent fiberoptic bronchoscopy in the pediatric respiratory department of a tertiary hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the subjects. According to the differences in the previous nursing methods received, they were divided into the expected nursing group and the traditional nursing group, with 70 cases in each group. The anticipatory nursing group received systematic and individualized anticipatory nursing interventions, including preoperative health education, simulated examination, full accompaniment during the procedure, and postoperative follow-up. The traditional nursing group received routine nursing care. The anxiety levels of the children (assessed using the modified yale preoperative anxiety scale, m-YPAS), compliance with the examination (assessed using a self-made scoring sheet), success rate of the examination, incidence of complications, and parental satisfaction (assessed using a self-made questionnaire) were compared between the 2 groups. The anxiety scores of the children in the anticipatory nursing group were significantly lower than those in the traditional nursing group (35.2 ± 4.8 vs 42.6 ± 5.3, P < .01). The compliance scores of the children in the anticipatory nursing group were significantly higher than those in the traditional nursing group (8.5 ± 1.2 vs 6.8 ± 1.5, P < .01). The success rate of the examination in the anticipatory nursing group was 98.6%, significantly higher than the 90.0% in the traditional nursing group (P < .05). The incidence of complications in the anticipatory nursing group was 4.3%, significantly lower than the 14.3% in the traditional nursing group (P < .05). The parental satisfaction scores were significantly higher in the anticipatory nursing group than in the traditional nursing group (9.2 ± 0.8 vs 7.6 ± 1.1, P < .01). Anticipatory nursing can effectively alleviate anxiety in children undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy, improve compliance and success rate of the examination, reduce the incidence of complications, and enhance parental satisfaction. It has important clinical application value.
