Abstract
BACKGROUND: The main aim of this study is to assess and analyze the effectiveness of two different materials using the same technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this randomized controlled split-mouth design, a total of 34 bilateral cases of Miller's class I/II receded gums were treated. RESULTS: The results revealed a reduction in various parameters and a gain in some in both groups after 6 months. RCES was maximum in both sites. Time taken for surgery and pain perception were less in the test cluster as compared to the control cluster. CONCLUSION: The SCTG remains the benchmark for the treatment of gingival recession; XCM seems to be a good alternative, obviating the need for harvesting of grafts and reducing the morbidity at the donor site.
