Abstract
BACKGROUND: The members of the genus Cunaxa von Heyden, known as free-living predators, feed on small arthropods and invertebrates in soil. The genus comprises more than 70 described species reported from different regions around the world. In this study, a new species, C. acaciae sp. nov., is described and illustrated based on females, and C. womersleyi Baker and Hoffmann is reported as a new record to the cunaxid mite fauna of Saudi Arabia. NEW INFORMATION: A new species of the genus Cunaxa von Heyden, C. acaciae sp. nov., is described and illustrated, based on females collected from soil under Acacia sp. (Fabaceae). In addition, C. womersleyi Baker and Hoffmann is reported as new to the cunaxid mite fauna of Saudi Arabia. An updated key to the species of the genus Cunaxa is provided.
