Abstract
BACKGROUND: The genus Phanerotomella Szépligeti, 1900 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Cheloninae, Phanerotomini), is restricted to the Old World, with no records from the Nearctic or Neotropical Regions. Reliably species-identified COI sequences are scarce for this genus in public databases, hindering comprehensive phylogenetic and DNA-barcoding analyses. NEW INFORMATION: This study provides 29 COI sequences for this genus. Two species delimitation approaches, combined with morphological evidence, were employed to delimit species. The findings indicated the existence of 16 species, including one new species: P. nitidifascia Fang, He, van Achterberg, sp. nov. and one newly-recorded species: P. namkyensis Sigwalt, 1978. Additionally, we provide the first available COI sequence for the Chinese endemic genus Siniphanerotomella.
