Abstract

Patient rewarming with heated blanket system combined with adjunctive high velocity nasal insufflation (HVNI) achieved rapid rewarming (30°C to 34.9°C [86°F to 94.8°F] over 5 h) for a patient presenting with neurogenic hypothermia from cervical spinal cord injury. HVNI utilized total lung surface area as a high-value target for temperature modulation with airway rewarming.
