Abstract
A 51-year-old man developed severe hypernatremia (171 mEq/L) and a nonaneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage after ingesting 1 L of soy sauce. Rapid, controlled correction of serum sodium using 5% dextrose, while avoiding hyperglycemia, led to a full neurological recovery. This case demonstrates that a favorable outcome is possible in salt poisoning-induced intracranial hemorrhage.
