Lichtheimia ornata is an emerging opportunistic Mucorales pathogen that is associated with fatal infections in immunocompromised individuals. While these environmentally acquired infections have rarely been reported to date, cases were noted in a recent analysis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated mucormycosis in India.
